I Heart Friends

I Heart Friends

Sitting on the famous Central Perk couch!

There are some shows that are universally loved. One show is particular is Friends. Friends was a pivotal moment in television history. Friends created so many iconic moments like the Rachel haircut, which if you were a woman in the nineties you probably had it. This show highlighted the lives of six twenty somethings navigating life in the best city on earth, New York. The city was the backdrop to the adventures of Ross, Rachel, Chandler, Monica, Joey and Phoebe. This September marked twenty five years since the pilot episode premiered. I was lucky enough to attend exhibition of the amazing art featured in the show by artist Burton Morris.

The Art of Friends: Burton Morris

Painting by Burton Morris on display at Taglialatella Galleries NYC

Morris has been creating art for over thirty years including the signature image for the 76th annual Academy Awards. His work was first featured on the show on the third episode and was featured through out the series many times. Funny enough it was his sister who told him that his work was featured on the show.  Morris created the iconic art featured in Central Perk including the signature coffee cup. The art became a character of the show helping to paint the backdrop for many pivotal moments on the show.
Limited Edition Print of the Signature Coffee Cup

In celebration of the anniversary, Morris released a limited edition print of the signature coffee cup. It was amazing to see this art in person and experience what it was like to be in the coffee house. I was lucky enough to meet Morris and express my appreciation for his talent and work. The exhibition, The Art of Friends: Burton Morris will be on display at the Taglialatella Gallery in Chelsea until October 16th. My recommendation if you are a fan of Friends and amazing art this is something not to miss.

Friends created a number of iconic fashion moments throughout the series. To celebrate this anniversary, Ralph Lauren released a line that was inspired by what Rachel would be wearing now. These pieces reflect the working woman's wardrobe of today. During the series, Rachel worked at Ralph Lauren and Lauren himself even appeared on the series.

Ralph Lauren x Friends Pop-Up at Bloomingdales

This collection was released exclusively online and at Bloomingdales. Rachel as well if you remember, worked for Bloomingdales. This collection almost symbolizes the career or Rachel coming full circle. These pieces are most likely to sell out fast. In celebration of the release, Bloomingdales offered free coffee and the ability to take pictures on the famous Central Perk couch.

Ralph Lauren x Friend Milk Jugs

One of the best parts of the pop-up was the milk jugs. I know it sounds silly but as a friend fan and Ralph Lauren fan this was something that was really fun.  I did try like many to buy them but they were made exclusively for the pop-up. If like me you are a fashion and friends, this collection is a must to check out! New York became an integral character of Friends. The show explored so many treasures of the concrete jungle.
